We are a Work-in-Progress, and our Projects can be too.
Melanie Wilson and Lisa Allen on the set of Lisa’s “Limitless” TV show on HTTV in Summit, NJ
I taped an episode of Limitless with Lisa 'Talmage' Allen for HTTV recently.
It was a real, easy conversation. No bells and whistles, just an honest discussion about things a lot of women are working through right now.
We covered a lot of ground and jumped into some of the stories that women share with me every day, whether through my women’s group or because they are a client or a friend.
Some of these women are stepping away from corporate careers and realizing they don’t want to go back to what they were doing before. Others have spent years raising families and are starting to think about what they want now and what feels genuinely right for them to do.
And then comes the harder part. How do you talk about that? How do you tell your story when you’re still in it?
That’s where so many women get stuck. They think they need to have it all mapped out before they can say anything. And actually, you don’t. “Work-in-progress” is okay. A lot of the work I do is helping women find the words for where they are, even if it’s still evolving.
We also talked a lot about community. Whether it’s through volunteering, local groups, or just showing up in a room with other women, that connection matters more than most people realize.
At the very beginning, in her introduction, Lisa mentioned the idea that “content is king,” and I couldn’t resist jumping in with “content is queen.” Especially when women are the ones telling the story.
What made it even more interesting for me was that this wasn’t my first time in that studio. Years ago, I was there talking about a public education advocacy group I was involved in when my kids were in school. I remember how nervous I was. I had notes. I prepared. I felt like I had to get everything right.
This time felt completely different. I showed up, spoke from the heart, and trusted that was enough.
That shift says a lot about what I believe now, and what I try to help other women see. You don’t need to have everything figured out or perfectly prepared to show up and be heard.
